Markbook Assignment 2

Yes well I think it's time for me to research what markbooks actually are, umm..yeah I'm pretty sure I know what it is. Markbooks are the storing of scores/marks of students from tests/exams and assessments.

From a website a markbook is decribed as "combines ease-of-use for teachers with a powerful database system, separating out the functions of teachers and of administrators, and drawing a distinction between assessment and reporting.MarkBook replaces manual or ad hoc systems of keeping track of results and producing students' reports"

Advantages of using a markbooks include:

  • Is flexible and responsive
  • Easy and manageable
  • Accurate and fast
  • Easier to duplicate
  • Distribution is also simpler

Disadvantages include:

  • Possibilty of losing data
  • Chance for data corruption

It is often advisable to create more than one copy of a file, to ensure that total loss does not have a chance to occur. It is also advised to save a copy to a usb or CD-ROM, keeping it away in a secure location.
